157-unit affordable housing complex rising at 7408 S. Figueroa Street

A large affordable housing complex is on the rise on property just west of the US-110 Freeway in South Los Angeles.

The project from Drona Investments, located at 7408 S. Figueroa Street, will eventually consist of a seven-story building featuring 157 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.

Save for a single market-rate manager's unit, the project's housing will be fully restricted to very low-, low-, and moderate-income renters.

Renderings of the project, which is also designed by Drona, depict the finished product as a contemporary podium-type structure.

The property abuts a bungalow court apartment complex which is slated to be transformed into small lot homes. The 7408 Figueroa property was previously slated for the construction of a predominantly market-rate, mixed-use project with 45 apartments and commercial space.

Drona is also attached to plans for a similar project a few blocks to the north along Figueroa.
