Construction is underway for a new senior housing complex in Reseda, according to permits recently issued by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety.
The project from Meta Housing Corp., located on land owned by the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging at 19300 W. Sherman Way, will eventually consists of a six-story building featuring 244 one- and two-bedroom apartments with parking for 125 vehicles.
According to project findings, the apartments would be reserved for low- and moderate-income renters. Those restrictions made the project eligible for the City of Los Angeles Affordable Housing Incentive Program, which permits larger structures than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.
Y&M Architects is designing the contemporary low-rise development, which is shown in plans with amenities such as a community center, flex space, a rear yard, a side yard, and two courtyards.
The project site is located a short distance to the east on Sherman Way from a similar affordable housing complex built by Hollywood Community Housing Corp.
Meta Housing is currently developing several large affordable housing projects in the San Fernando Valley, including a recently-initiated development in Canoga Park.
