Four months after the Beverly Hills City Council moved to rescind its denial of a proposed Builder's Remedy project just off of Wilshire Boulevard, the Beverly Hills Planning Commission has moved to approve the project.
The from applicant Max Netty, slated for a property at 140 S. Camden Drive, calls for the construction of a new 15-story building featuring 27 residential units above a below-ground, automated parking garage with space for 44 cars.
According to a staff report, the tower would include six units of affordable housing - a requirement for eligibility as a Builder's Remedy project.
CARA Architecture is designing the slim residential tower.
Netty's initial application for the project in 2024 came at a time when the City of Beverly Hills had failed to obtain certification for its housing element, allowing property owners to flout zoning rules relating to building height and density by providing a requisite amount of on-site affordable housing.
While the City of Beverly Hills initially moved to reject Netty's plans, a lawsuit from the developer led to settlement negotiations in which the City to rescind its denial of the appeal and process the application.
Netty has also received approvals for a similar project a short walk to the east on Rodeo Drive, where City officials approved plans for his 19-story tower in 2025.
