A new supportive housing complex next to the headquarters of the Downtown Women's Center reached a key milestone this week, with a topping out ceremony at 5th Street San Pedro Streets in Skid Row.
Rosa's Place, built on the former site of a parking lot at 501 E. 5th Street, is being developed in partnership with Daylight Community Development and GTM Holdings. The new seven-story building will contain 97 units of permanent supportive housing, one market rate manager's apartment, and on-site offices for service providers.

“Today’s milestone represents hope for Skid Row and demonstrates what’s possible when communities invest in proven solutions to homelessness,” said Downtown Women's Center chief executive officer Amy Turk, in a news release. “Every signature placed on this staircase reflects our collective commitment to creating brighter futures for women and survivors of violence.”
KFA Architecture and Gensler are designing the building, which has a V-shaped footprint above its podium level to provide open space amenities and natural light.

Completion is expected in Fall 2027, at which point the project will nearly double the Downtown Women's Center's housing capacity from 119 to 216 homes.
Funding for the project comes through the various state sources, Apple, the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, Century, and Citi.
