Wood framing is on the rise for a new affordable housing complex near Washington and La Brea in Mid-City.

The project at 5110 Washington Boulevard, which is being developed by Orion Capital will consist of a six-story building featuring 124 one- and two-bedroom apartments above parking for 50 vehicles.
Project approvals include density bonus incentives, allowing a larger building than otherwise permitted at this location, with streamlined approvals granted due to Executive Directive 1.
JPark Architects is designing the project, which is portrayed in plans as a contemporary podium-type building.

Orion Capital, best known for building housing near the USC campus, has more recently pivoted into affordable housing, developing similar projects as sites across the Central Los Angeles area.
