Six months after starting work, a mixed-use complex from Primestor is rising quickly at the Norwalk Civic Center.

The Walk, which is taking shape on a roughly 13-acre site at Norwalk Boulevard and Imperial Highway, replaces surface parking and a large portion of the Civic Center's front lawn with 374 homes (including 56 affordable units), 94,000 square feet of commercial space, and a new parking garage.

DLR Group is designing The Walk, which places retail in an open-air setting with low-rise structures lining Imperial Highway and Norwalk Boulevard. Housing will consist of seven-story buildings toward the eastern part of the site. The project is expected to employ modular construction.

An environmental report circulated for the project estimated that construction would occur over a 24-month period.

Per a construction notice, work has proceeded to the fifth and sixth floors of the project's shared parking structure. Construction is also underway for the new retail and residential buildings.
