The former site of duplex in West Hollywood is slated for redevelopment with a larger multifamily residential building, according to a report to the West Hollywood Planning Commission's Design Review Subcommittee.

The project from Downtown-based Vanowen Management, LLC, which would rise at 1030 N. Sierra Bonita Avenue, calls for the construction of a seven-story building featuring 12 two-bedroom apartments above parking for six vehicles.

Plans rely on density bonus incentives to permit a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.

"The proposed design features a full block-fronting, seven-story townhouse-style building articulated through material variation and squared framed elements that break up the front façade," reads a staff report. "The street frontage is visually articulated by a series of projecting and recessed window bays framed by deep, squared elements, creating both vertical and horizontal variation across the façade."

The Design Review Subcommittee recently looked at a similar project from 64North along Hayworth Avenue.
