An empty lot near the G Line busway in Valley Village is slated for redevelopment with housing, according to a new application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The project from VLI Holding, LLC, proposed at 5414 Bellingham Avenue, calls for the new construction of a six-story building featuring 25 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above parking for two vehicles.

Requested entitlements include city development incentives permitting a larger building than otherwise allowed at this property. In exchange, three of the new apartments would be set aside for extremely low-income renters.

HRD Arch, Inc. is designing the contemporary podium-type building, according to plans included with the filing.

The project site is located two blocks west of the G Line's Laurel Canyon Station. Work to speed up travel times along the busway is currently underway through a $668-million Metro project.
