The Los Angeles City Planning Commission has given the go-ahead to a proposed development in Toluca Lake which would replace a pair of vacant homes.
The project from Bondfield, LLC, slated for a property at 4423-4425 Cartwright Avenue, calls for the construction of a new five-story edifice featuring 13 one-bedroom apartments above ground-level parking for eight vehicles. Each floor also noted to include a recreation room.
City Planning Commission approval was required to grant density bonus incentives permitting a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, two of the new apartments are to be set aside for rent by very low-income households.
Edward Carlson is designing the contemporary podium-type building, per plans included with a staff report.
The project site is located a few blocks to the west of Lankershim Boulevard, where a new outpost of the Last Bookstore recently opened its doors.
