One year since our last update, East End Capital has completed work on a $230-million studio complex next to the  Sixth Street Viaduct in Boyle Heights.

East End Studios Mission, which repurposed portions of a former cold storage facility, is located east of the Los Angeles River at 2233 E. Jesse Street. The 255,000-square-foot complex includes five soundstages, ranging from 14,000 to 36,000 square feet in size, as well as production offices and support facilities.

East End Capital estimates that the project created 1,500 jobs during construction, and will create 750 permanent jobs.

“L.A. is the creative capital of the world and our entertainment industry is core to this city’s history and the backbone of our economy,” said Mayor Karen Bass in a news release. “When we invest in our signature industry we are creating good-paying union jobs, expanding creative outlets and spurring new economic opportunities. I want to congratulate East End Studios on this milestone and look forward to continuing our partnership to deliver for Angelenos.”

Layton Construction built East End Mission, while Bell Design Group designed the project.

East End previously developed a smaller 96,000-square-foot complex in Glendale, and has received approvals for a larger 406,000-square-foot campus elsewhere in that city. Across the river in Downtown Los Angeles, East End has proposed a more than 700,000-square-foot development in the Arts District
