One-and-a-half years after breaking ground in Sawtelle, a multifamily residential development from Category Company is fully-framed near Metro's Expo/Sepulveda Station.
The project, which replaced two single-family homes at 2456-2460 S. Purdue Avenue, consists of a five-story building that will feature 27 apartments above a single level of subterranean parking when completed.
City approvals include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, which permitted Category to build a larger structure than zoning rules would have otherwise allowed. In exchange, three of the new apartments are to be set aside for rent as extremely low-income affordable housing.
Bittoni Architects is designing the contemporary podium-type building, which will include amenities such as a recreation room, a central courtyard, a gym, and a rooftop deck.
The project is one of several new developments in proximity to the nearby E Line Station, which is located east across the I-405 Freeway. The largest development in the works nearby is a 278-unit apartment complex planned by Onni Group.
