At its meeting on December 19, the Los Angeles City Planning Commission voted to sign off on a proposed development which would bring new apartments to a site just west of Paramount Pictures in Hollywood.
The proposed development, submitted to the city for review last year by an entity affiliated with KMK Management Company, would rise from a property located at 5720-5728 W. Waring Avenue. Plans call for the construction of five-story edifice featuring 35 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments above ground-level parking for 17 vehicles.
The item came before the Planning Commission seeking approvals for density bonus incentives to permit a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. Seven apartments are to be provided as very low-income affordable housing in exchange for the incentives.
Breakform Design is the architect attached to the project, which is depicted in a rendering as a contemporary podium-type building. A staff report to the Commission describes the building as featuring common amenities including a gym, a recreation room, and roof decks, as well as private balconies.
The project on Waring Avenue joins a handful of recent development in close proximity to the Paramount Pictures lot, including a mixed-use building two blocks to the south along Melrose Avenue.
