An empty lot two blocks west of Lake Avenue in Pasadena is up for redevelopment with housing, per a new report to the city's Design Commission.
K2 Capital, LLC, listed as the property owner for the site, is seeking approvals to build a four-story building on the site featuring 46 one- and two-bedroom apartments above subterranean parking for 67 vehicles.
According to a staff report, plans call for six apartments to be set aside for rent by low- and moderate-income households. That makes the project eligible for density bonus incentives, granting waivers from certain zoning standards.
LCRA is designing the project, according to plans to be prevented to the commission.
"The building is designed in a generally contemporary style with flat roofs, projecting and recessed building volumes, stacked punched openings and projecting canopies," reads a staff report. "The applicant’s design concept draws from the courtyard housing typology found in Pasadena and applies it in a modern or contemporary manner that complements the neighborhood and its varied building types and architectural styles."
The presentation to the Design Commission is of a preliminary nature, and no vote on the final concept is scheduled at this point in time.
