Just south of Olympic Boulevard in Pico-Union, Los Angeles-based development firm Goodson Real Estate is nearing the finish line at a new multifamily residential complex.

The five-story development, which broke ground in 2021 at 1124-1138 S. Normandie Avenue, will consist of 84 studio and one-bedroom apartments above semi-subterranean parking for 42 vehicles when completed.

Project approvals include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, permitting a larger structure than would typically be allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, eight of the apartments are to be set aside as for rent as deed-restricted affordable housing at the extremely low-income level.

Bittoni Architects is designing 1124 S. Normandie Avenue, which closely resembles conceptual renderings produced prior to the start of construction. Per a landing page on the firm's website, the apartment complex will include common spaces and an open corridor.

Several infill developments have recently been built on nearby sites to the south of Olympic, including a 41-unit project completed one block east on Mariposa Avenue.
