Nearly one year after breaking ground in the unincorporated community of Westmont, completion nears for a pocket park built by the L.A. Neighborhood Land Trust.

The 95th & Normandie Pocket Park, named for its location at the southwest corner of 95th Street and Normandie Avenue, spans approximately 7,000 square feet and includes a shade structure, landscaping, play equipment, and planter-style seating.

The project came about in part through a nearly $1.3-million Proposition 68 grant awarded in 2020 by the State of California, which was combined with $650,000 in local funding allocated to the project in 2018.

L.A. County Parks and Recreation Departmental Facilities Planer Clement Lau, writing for, noted that the 95th & Normandie Park will increase the percentage of residents in Westmont who live within a 10-minute walk of a park from 57 percent to 74 percent. Approximately 5,700 residents within walking distance.

The site sits across the intersection of 95th Street and Normandie Avenue from another vacant lot where SRO Housing Corp. is planning a new permanent supportive housing complex.
