High above East Hollywood, exterior work looks just about finished at Enlightenment Plaza, a new affordable housing complex from by Flexible PSH Solutions, Inc.
Located just east of Vermont/Beverly Station on a site between Madison and Juanita Avenues, the initial phase of the project consists of two buildings: the Rousseau Residences and Montesquieu Manor apartments. The five- and six-story structures will collectively feature a total of 105 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, according to Los Angeles Housing Department records.
Later components of the plan, which would also encompass currently empty land to the east, would result in a total of 387 apartments - less than the 454 homes originally proposed for the site. Sticking with the same theme, the subsequent phases will include the Voltaire Villas and the Locke Lofts.
KFA Architecture is designing Enlightenment Plaza, which utilizes prefabricated modular units, and orients its buildings around a central green space linked by pedestrian pathways connecting to Oakwood, Madison, and Juanita Avenues.
Enlightenment Plaza just west of the PATH Metro Villas supportive housing complex, a similar multi-phase complex which was completed in 2022.
