New affordable housing is sprouting from the former site of commercial buildings near the intersection of 107th Street and Avalon Boulevard in South Los Angeles.
The project from SoLa Impact, now rising at 10705 S. Avalon Boulevard, will consist of a five-story edifice featuring 69 apartments without on-site parking.
The new development is fully affordable, and was entitled using density bonus incentives and the streamlining provisions of Executive Directive 1.
Malekian & Associates is designing 10705 Avalon, which is portrayed in plans as a contemporary podium-type building.
SoLa Impact, the developer, has used Opportunity Zones to build a number of mixed-income and affordable housing projects across South Los Angeles.
