Los Angeles-based Samuelian Group has announced funding for a new affordable housing complex along Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park.

The Flats on Sunset Group, proposed for a site at 1150 Sunset Boulevard, calls for the construction of a six-story building featuring 237 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above parking for 217 vehicles.

The project is intended to serve residents earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income level.

According to a landing page on the Samuelian Group website, the complex will also include a rooftop deck, children's play areas, on-site laundry facilities, and a fitness center, among other open spaces.

The project site sits directly across Sunset from the former home of the Metropolitan Water District, where a towering mixed-use complex was approved in 2022 but has yet to move forward. A proposal for a 327-unit apartment complex on a nearby site at 1185 Sunset Boulevard was also approved in 2025.

Samuelian Group has several other projects in the works in the City of Los Angeles, according to its website, including a similar affordable housing complex on Hyperion Avenue in Silver Lake.
