A 1920s apartment building in Koreatown is slated to make way for affordable housing, per a new application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The proposed project - which comes from applicant 2900 Francis AH, LLC and property owner Chessed26, LLC - would rise from a corner lot located at 2900 Francis Avenue. Plans call for the construction of a new eight-story edifice featuring 53 apartments above parking for 23 vehicles.
With the exception of a one market-rate manager's unit, all of the apartments are to be reserved for rent by very low-income households, making it eligible for development incentives permitting a larger building than would otherwise be allowed by zoning.
LOHA is designing the contemporary, which would include large amenity decks at the second floor and roof levels.
A similar affordable housing development is planned for an empty lot a short walk to the west at 2859 Francis Avenue.
