Two small residential buildings in Del Rey are slated to give way to affordable housing, according to a new application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The project from property owners Mike and Denise Stern, slated for a site at 11907 W. Culver Boulevard, calls for razing five existing homes to clear the way for the construction of a new five-story edifice featuring 57 studio and one-bedroom apartments without automobile parking.

In addition to streamlining via Executive Directive 1, the project also requests density bonus incentives in exchange for the provision of affordable housing. The project is a 100 percent affordable housing development, which would cater to low- and moderate-income renters.

Metropolis Architecture is designing the project, per plans included with the entitlement application.

The project site is located a short walk north of Culver Boulevard's intersection with Inglewood Boulevard, where a similarly-sized development featuring apartments and ground-floor commercial space was completed in 2022.
