Logos Faith Development  has announced $500,000 in funding from the Roy and Patricia Disney Foundation to help with pre-development for a new affordable housing complex in Historic South-Central.

The proposed project, slated for a site at 3602-3604 Crawford Street, calls for the construction of a three-story building that will feature 24 apartments. The building will be a 100 percent affordable housing development, and will cater to Section 8 voucher holders.

“We are honored to receive this funding and show of support and validation for LOGOS from such an iconic foundation,” said Logos founder and chief executive officer Pastor Martin Porter in a news release. “We think this is the beginning of a great partnership between our two organizations to get into the breach and solve the lack of affordable housing in the region. Together is better!”

The funding will be used for design and planning efforts.

JZA Architecture is designing the proposed project, which is portrayed in renderings as a contemporary low-rise development.

The Crawford development, slated to begin construction in 2026,  is part of a development pipeline for Logos which is valued at more than $500 million and includes over 2,000 homes. The developer recently announced plans for a larger project on Central Avenue in Watts.
