A pair of existing homes in North Hollywood are slated to give way to affordable housing, per a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The proposed project from applicant Alan Turobiner, is slated for a site located at 5515 N. Cahuenga Boulevard. Plans call for the construction of a new six-story edifice featuring 51 studio and one-bedroom apartments without on-site automobile parking.

Requested entitlements include city development incentives to permit a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules in exchange for the provision of affordable housing. The project would be fully restricted to moderate-, low-, and very low-income households, making it eligible for the incentives, as well as streamlining via the Mayor's Executive Directive 1.

GA Engineering is designing the project, which is depicted in a rendering as a contemporary podium-type building.

Turobiner and GA Engineering recently initiated plans for a similar affordable housing complex in Toluca Lake.
