In North Hollywood, a property located one block off of Lankershim Boulevard is up for redevelopment with affordable housing, according to a new application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The project, which comes from an entity affiliated with Los Angeles-based Avenue Homes, would rise from a narrow parcel located at 6144 N. Hazelhurst Place. Plans call for the construction of a four-story edifice featuring 49 one- and two-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.
Requested entitlements include streamlining via Executive Directive 1 and density bonus incentives in exchange for the provision of affordable housing. The project is a 100 percent affordable housing development.
Open Office is designing the building, which is depicted in a rendering as a contemporary stucco-clad structure.
The project site is located a few blocks to the east of the NoHo West complex, a 25-acre former shopping mall turned mixed-use development that includes more than 600 apartments a movie theater, and a Trader Joe's.
Avenue Homes and Open Office are also working on a similar affordable housing complex in Historic Filipinotown.
