Work is set to begin for a new affordable housing development in Warner Center, per building permits recently issued by the City of Los Angeles.

The project from Meta Housing Corp., which will rise at 6033-6039 De Soto Avenue, calls for the construction of an eight-story building featuring 207 units of low- and moderate-income affordable housing above parking for 157 vehicles.

Meta Housing secured approvals for the project using development bonuses through the citywide housing incentive program.

AC Martin is designing 6033 De Soto, which is depicted in a plans as a contemporary podium-type building featuring two courtyards within the building, as well as a roughly 4,500-square-foot publicly-accessible courtyard along the southern side of the property.

Safehold recently announced that it has closed on a ground lease for the property, which is slated to be completed in 2028.

"We're thrilled to establish a relationship with the team at Meta, and to be a part of this high-quality development in a submarket with significant need for affordable product," said Safehold head of investments Steve Wylder. "We have continued to expand our presence in the Affordable Housing space and are encouraged by the strong demand for our ground lease capital and growth in our forward investment pipeline."

Elsewhere in Warner Center, Meta is developing a similar project with 301 apartments at 21300 Oxnard Street.
