Meta Housing Corp. is retooling its plans for an affordable housing development in Warner Center using the citywide housing incentives, per a new application to the Department of City Planning.
The project, slated for a site at 6033-6039 De Soto Avenue, was previously envisioned as an eight-story edifice featuring 232 two- and three-bedroom apartments with parking for 116 vehicles. The revised application, on August 5, now trims the total amount of housing to 207 dwelling units, while upping the amount of parking proposed to 159 vehicle spaces.
With the exception of two manager's units, the apartments are to be reserved for low- and moderate-income renters.
AC Martin remains the architect for 6033 De Soto, which is shown in a rendering as a contemporary podium-type building. Plans call for two courtyards within the building, as well as a roughly 4,500-square-foot courtyard along the southern side of the property which would be accessible to the public.
The project site was previously slated to give way to a senior housing complex from CA Ventures. When that proposal failed to come to fruition, the land was listed for sale.
Meta is currently building a similar project with 301 apartments at 21300 Oxnard Street on land once slated for an assisted living facility with medical offices.
