An empty lot in Valley Village once slated for a never-built small lot subdivision is instead poised for affordable housing, according to an application recently filed with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The proposed development from an entity associated with Angeleno Investments, which would rise at 5139 N. Colfax Avenue, calls for the construction of a six-story building featuring 95 one- and two-bedroom apartments with ground-floor parking for 32 vehicles.
Plans call for a mix of low- and moderate-income housing, making the project eligible for city housing incentives permitting a larger building than would otherwise be allowed by zoning rules.
Category Company is designing the project, which is shown in plans as a contemporary podium-type building. The building would include a central courtyard and a rooftop amenity deck.
The proposed development would rise directly south of a mixed-use building recently developed on a property at Colfax's intersection with Magnolia Avenue.
Angeleno Investments is attached to several similar affordable housing developments on sites located in Central Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
