In Westlake, framing is taking shape for a new affordable housing complex just south of 7th Street, per a social media post from Kevin Tsai Architecture.
The project from KLW Investment, located at 733 S. Burlington Avenue, consists of a seven-story building that will feature 79 studio and one-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.
In addition to streamlined approvals through Executive Directive 1, the project relies on density bonus incentives to permit a larger structure than would otherwise be allowed at this location. All of the proposed apartments would be rented by low- and moderate-income households.
Kevin Tsai Architecture's design for the building calls for an exterior of smooth plaster and a rooftop deck.
The project is one of two which KLW is planning with Kevin Tsai Architecture at this time, joining another affordable housing development site to rise north of MacArthur Park on 5th Street.
