Six months after we last stopped by in Westchester, wood framing is complete for a project billed as the neighborhood's first permanent supportive housing complex: the Redtail Crossing apartments from non-profit developer Community Corp. of Santa Monica.
Located at 8333 Airport Boulevard, the complex consists of a four-story building that will feature 102 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above subterranean parking for 78 vehicles.
According to the Community Corp. website, the apartments will serve households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income level.
KFA Architecture is designing apartment complex, which is shown in plans with an E-shaped footprint wrapping around two landscaped courtyards. Planned ancillary features include community rooms, a rear yard, and case management offices for on-site service providers.
According to the Community Corp. website, completion of the more than $60-million project is on track for the second half of 2024.
While Community Corp. has made its name by building affordable housing in Santa Monica, the non-profit developer has looked outside of its hometown in recent years. Its portfolio includes a 50-unit affordable housing complex in Mar Vista, as well as a proposed 78-unit building on Sepulveda Boulevard in Culver City.
