Just west of Lincoln Boulevard in Venice, a duplex has made way for the construction of a new multifamily residential development.

Located at 1172 W. Nelrose Avenue, the project from Los Angeles-based Uplifters Development will eventually consist of a five-story building featuring nine apartments without automobile parking.

Project approvals include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, permitting more floor area and height than would be allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, one of the proposed apartments is to be set aside for rent by extremely low-income households.

Aero Collective is designing the contemporary low-rise structure, which is shown in plans with a patio deck at its second level.

The project site is located just west of The Journey, a permanent supportive housing complex which was completed in late 2024.
