One year since our last update, the wrapping is off for a large apartment complex next door to the World Trade Center in Downtown Long Beach

Alexan West End, which is being developed by Trammell Crow Residential and R&V Management, replaces a parking lot at 600 Broadway with a collection of seven- and eight-story buildings containing 600 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above parking.

Studio One Eleven designed the project, which breaks up the site through the inclusion of internal streets and pedestrian paths. Besides housing, plans call for amenities including a fitness center, a swimming pool and spa, and a rooftop deck.

The project consists of the initial components of a larger plan approved for the site by the City of Long Beach. The final element would be a high-rise building at the far western side of the property.

In addition to a location directly north of the World Trade Center, the property also sits due east of a similar 142-unit apartment complex which opened for residents in 2022 at the intersection of Broadway and Magnolia Avenue.

TCR is also working with Studio One Eleven on a pair of large apartment complexes near the A Line in Arcadia, and has plans for a 682-unit development at the former site of the Downtown Glendale Sears.
