The sageLA development, located on the former site of Midway Ford at 200 N. Vermont Avenue, consists of a six-story podium-type building that will feature 490 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments above 35,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Parking for the commercial and residential spaces is provided in two levels.

Project entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, which permitted a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange 49 of the apartments are to be reserved as extremely low-income affordable housing for a period of 55 years after completion.

MVE + Partners designed the contemporary low-rise structure, which includes multiple landscaped decks and courtyards. Those provide space for amenities such as a swimming pool, with other features amenities consisting of a half basketball court, a game room, a screening room, and co-working space.

The apartment complex is the third large project built as a joint venture between Hankey and Jamison Services, following the Circa apartment towers in Downtown Los Angeles, and the 25-story Kurve development at 2900 Wilshire Boulevard.

The sageLA complex is one of two large residential developments now taking shape near Vermont/Beverly Station, joining Flexible PSH Solutions' Enlightenment Plaza complex.

Besides 200 Vermont, Hankey is developing a 432-unit apartment complex on Lankershim Boulevard in Sun Valley, while Jamison Services is wrapping up work on a pair of residential towers next to Wilshire/Normandie Station.
