Eight months after we last stopped by in Encino, a tower crane has arrived at 16161 Ventura Boulevard, site of a new senior housing complex from Washington-based SRM Development.
The project, which replaced a small commercial building, is dubbed Vered on Ventura. Plans call for a six-story building which will feature 107 assisted living units and 16 memory care apartments.
Urbal Architecture is designing Vered, which is shown in renderings as a contemporary podium-type building. Above the second level, plans call for a U-shaped footprint wrapping an elevated courtyard and a series of terrace decks overlooking Ventura Boulevard.
According to a project website, the building will feature a sky lounge, a common dining area, a bistro, a gym, a salon, a nurse’s office, an outdoor movie viewing area, a dining area, and a dog run.
SRM, which is building on a site once slated for a seven-story, 118-unit apartment complex, is already in construction at its first L.A.-area development: a 134-unit senior housing project in Culver City.
The company's third project, planned miles east in Studio City, would include both senior apartments and small lot homes on Ventura Boulevard.
