Nearly one year since starting work Glendale Boulevard in, construction has gone vertical for a new affordable housing complex from Visionary Developments in Echo Park.
The Court Residences, located at 1540 Court Street, will eventually consist of a seven-story building featuring 189 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments for low- and middle-income households without on-site parking.
Project approvals include development incentives permitting a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules in the exchange for the provision of affordable housing. The project also benefited from streamlined approvals via the Mayor's Executive Directive 1, according to an approval letter issued by the Planning Department.

Kevin Tsai Architecture is designing the project, while JZA Architecture is serving as executive architect.
The same project team is attached to a number of similar affordable housing developments in the Echo Park area, including a recently-proposed apartment complex at 1275 Sunset Boulevard. Visionary Developments currently has 580 total homes in the planning stages.
