One month after we took a look inside, Lendlease and Aware Super have announced the opening of Habitat next to Metro's La Cienega/Jefferson Station in Baldwin Hills.
The 12-story Habitat Residences, which replaced a storage facility at 3411 S. La Cienega Boulevard, includes 260 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 450 to 1,400 square feet in size. Advertised rents range from as low as $2,800 per month to more than $9,700 per month.
Those price figures do not apply to the 22 deed-restricted very low-income units included int he project in exchange for density bonus incentives allowing a larger complex otherwise permitted by zoning rules. Additionally, Lendlease agreed to reserve 7 apartments as workforce housing, considered affordable to those earning up to 120 percent of the area median income level.
Directly east of the Residences, Habitat also includes a six-story, 253,000-square-foot office building with 2,900 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
The project design team was headlined by SHoP Architects. Other members of the team included Steinberg Hart, interior design firms A+I and Kelly Wearstler, and landscape architecture firm Relm.
Habitat is the latest in a string of large developments near La Cienega/Jefferson Station, highlighted by the Wrapper office tower to the west and the Cumulus District to the north, which includes a 30-story high-rise and a ground-floor Whole Foods.
