The City of Hawthorne's Planning Commission has signed off on a project which calls for transforming a former vehicle storage lot just south of the I-105 Freeway into a hotel.
The project from applicant ZS Development Corp., which would rise on land at 11410 Menlo Avenue which is owned by MA Equities, calls for the construction of a new six-story, approximately 47,000-square-foot building containing 57 hotel rooms above parking for 57 vehicles.
In addition to hotel rooms, a staff report indicates the project would incorporate an indoor lounge, patio dining space, a rooft terrace, and a fitness center.
AO is designing the contemporary low-rise development, according to plans included with the Planning Commission presentation.
The project is one of at least two from the same team which would rise from sites along Imperial Highway in Hawthorne, the second of which is planned roughly a half-mile to the west. Between those two sites, an 83-room Tru Hotel is currently under construction.
