Eight years after the project was initially proposed, developer Jamison Services, Inc. has received approvals to build a pair of apartment towers just south of Wilshire Boulevard in Koreatown.

On September 24, the Los Angeles City Council voted to approve a zone change for a property at 3600 Wilshire Boulevard, where Jamison plans to raze a parking garage along the south side of the site toward 7th Street. In its place, plans call for the construction of two 23-story towers featuring a combined 760 studio, one-, and two-bedroom dwellings above 6,359 square feet of ground-floor retail uses and parking for nearly 1,300 vehicles.

Perkins&Will is designing the project, which would include buildings up to 269 feet in height, sharing amenities such as rooftop pools, a fitness center, and other outdoor spaces.

Construction of the towers is expected to occur over a roughly two-year period, according to an environmental report. However, a groundbreaking date for the project has not been announced.

Jamison has plans for a similar project nearby at 3470 Wilshire Boulevard, where another parking garage at the rear of an office tower is poised to make way for a pair of residential high-rise buildings.

Jamison has also built a pair of apartment towers along the north side of the street at 3545 Wilshire, and is now building a hotel across Harvard Boulevard from the 3600 Wilshire site.
