Los Angeles Trade-Tech College broke ground earlier this month on its latest expansion at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Grand Avenue.

The Design & Media Arts Building, located across the street from the A Line's Grand Station, will serve as the home of LATTC's Design & Media Arts programs, including digital media, fashion design, sign graphics, tailoring, and visual communications.

“On behalf of the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees, I am excited to see the beginning of this new building that will benefit future generations of Design & Media Arts students,” said Los Angeles Community College District board president, Dr. Kelsey Iino in a news release. “This building aligns with the District’s mission to foster innovation, creativity, and excellence in student education and provides students with the tools and environment they need to learn and succeed.”

Plans call for the construction of a three-story, nearly 90,000-square-foot building containing classrooms, computer labs, social lounges, gallery space, and other multi-purpose areas.

According to a fact sheet, HED is designing the $80-million project, with Swinerton, Jacobs, and Vanir rounding out the project team.
