One year since our last update, a new multifamily housing complex from Landmark Properties is fully framed near the UCLA campus in Westwood.

The Mark at Los Angeles, under construction at 10915 W. Strathmore Drive, consists of a seven-story building that will feature 37 two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom apartments. Those units, expected to cater to UCLA students, would include a combined total of 166 bedrooms.

Approved plans made use of density bonus incentives to permit a larger structure than zoning rules would typically allow. In exchange, five of the new apartments are to be set aside for rent by very low-income individuals.

LOHA is designing the project, which would be composed of cubic forms that create terrace decks and common courtyards for use by residents. The building is to be clad in fiber cement boards and corrugated metal panels.

Landmark acquired the site from the Pacific Southwest District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, which had owned the land and the church which was built on the property in the mid-1950s.

The project is joined by a similar housing complex, also designed by LOHA, now under construction to the west at 535 Glenrock Avenue.
