Construction is slated to begin at year's end for a medical office tower at the intersection of Wilshire and San Vicente Boulevard in Beverly Grove, the Beverly Press reports.
The project from Stockdale Capital Partners, which would replace a Big 5 store at 656 S. San Vicente Boulevard, calls for the construction of a new mid-rise structure featuring approximately 145,000 square feet of medical offices and life sciences space above a 418-car garage. It would be the first new building of its type in the surrounding area in decades.
The Beverly Press reports that closure of the Big 5 store is expected in mid-August, with grading work for the new tower to begin in December 2024. Heavy construction is anticipated to commence in the first quarter of 2025, with the building scheduled to be ready for tenants in 2027.
A leasing website for the property indicates that the building would rise 15 stories in height and stand to an architectural apex of nearly 213 feet.
"The site includes living gardens on the ground floor and upper floors, as well as a façade of glass and metal panels," states the website."
The medical office tower would begin work as Cedars-Sinai pursues its own expansion on San Vicente: a new patient tower which would be added to the hospital's northeast corner fronting Beverly Boulevard.
The 656 San Vicente Site also sits across Sweetzer Avenue from a property previously slated for redevelopment with a 20-story, 77-unit apartment tower.
