The Los Angeles City Planning Commission has signed off on a proposal which would bring a mixed-use apartment complex to the intersection of Pico and Crenshaw Boulevards.

The proposed project at 4201 W. Pico Boulevard, which comes from applicant 4201 Pico Investment, LLC, would consist of an eight-story building featuring 220 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above 12,496 square feet of  ground-floor commercial space and parking for 174 vehicles.

Planning Commission approval granted density bonus incentives permitting a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, 35 apartments would be set aside for rent by very low- and moderate-income renters.

Asulon Architecture & Design is designing the proposed project, which is depicted in renderings as a contemporary podium-type development featuring a courtyard and a rooftop amenity space
