Across the street from Exposition Park, construction has gone vertical for the Standard at Los Angeles, a new mixed-use complex from Georgia-based developer Landmark Properties.

The project, which broke ground earlier this year at 3900 S. Figueroa Street, will be a podium-type building containing 429 studio, one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom apartments (a total of 1,236 beds) above 15,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Plans also call for the renovation of five existing townhomes along the eastern side of the property as housing for an additional 48 residents.

The apartments are expected to cater to students at nearby USC.

The new construction will be an eight-story building wrapping a seven-level parking structure. HED is the architect of record for the development, which will also incorporate amenities such as a rooftop deck with a pool, a club room, a fitness center, multiple study lounges, and an interior courtyard.

At the time of the project's groundbreaking, completion was expected in August 2026.

The project is one of three in the Los Angeles area for Landmark Properties, following the near UCLA, and a proposed 12-story tower elsewhere in Westwood on Landfair Avenue.

Landmark is the latest in a string of developers to try their hand at housing for USC students along the Figueroa corridor, joining Core Spaces and CA Ventures, among others.
