A mixed-use apartment complex is set to replace a surface parking lot one block north of Metro's North Hollywood Station, according to a new application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The proposed project from applicant Serena Choi of SKCC Investments, LLC, slated for a property at 5540 N. Tujunga Avenue and 5543 N. Lankershim Boulevard, calls for the construction of a new seven-story building featuring 16 studio, one-, and four-bedroom apartments above ground-floor commercial space.
Requested entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities development incentives, which would permit a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange for the incentives, two of the new apartments would be set aside for rent by extremely low-income households.
Architecture Studio MA is designing the contemporary podium-type building, which would include a rooftop deck.
The project is one of a number of infill apartment buildings being pitched for the blocks surrounding North Hollywood Station, including on the parcels which now serve as the station's park-and-ride lot, where Trammell Crow Company has long-term plans for more than 1,500 homes.
