Social media posts from TCA Architects reveal a new look for a large mixed-use apartment complex slated to rise on the former site of Fry's Electronics near Hollywood Burbank Airport.
LaTerra Development's Burbank Aero Crossings, approved in 2021 by the Burbank City Council, calls for the construction of two seven-story buildings at 2311 Hollywood Way featuring 862 residential units - including five live/work units and nine townhomes - with 9,700 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
Urban Architecture Lab's design for the project called for approximately 130,000 square feet of open space across the site, including north-south and east-west paseos, multiple courtyards, and two rooftop decks.
TCA Architects is serving as the architect of record for the project, which was also approved with up to 152,000 square feet of office space.
Aero Crossings is the second large development for LaTerra in the City of Burbank, following a 573-unit complex now rising at 777 N. Front Street near the city's downtown Metrolink Station. The Aero Crossings site would abut the Burbank Airport - South Station.
