LA Family Housing and its sister organization LAFHBUILDS have completed work on The Pano, a new San Fernando Valley project which transformed a motel into supportive housing.
Located at 8209 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, the roughly $57-million redevelopment converted the former motel into 41 apartments, while also adding a three-story building containing 50 residential units and space for on-site supportive services. In total, the project includes 90 units of supportive housing.
“For LA Family Housing and LAFHBUILDS, The Pano is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and the dedication of so many people who believed in what this site could become," said LA Family Housing president and chief executive officer Stephanie Klasky-Gamer in a news release. "Together, we turned a shared vision into a community that will provide stability, dignity, and hope for years to come."
Funding sources include the State of California's Project Homekey program, as well as $10 million raised from philanthropic partners.
Designed by Los Angeles-based office42, The Pano includes studio units, and provides amenities such as a community room, a rooftop patio, a dog run, and offices for on-site staff.
Other members of the project team include general contractor United Building Co. and property manager Barker Management.
LA Family Housing and LAFHBBUILDS are also working on plans for a larger project on a Metro-owned site next to the G Line in Lake Balboa.
