A shuttered car rental business in the Mid-Wilshire area could give way to affordable housing via the Mayor's Executive Directive 1, according to plans submitted recently to the City of Los Angeles.

The proposed development from SCAH-LA, slated for a single parcel located at 920 S. La Brea Avenue, calls for the construction of a slim nine-story building which would feature 79 apartments without on-site parking.

As all of the apartments would be income-restricted, save for a single manager's unit, the project is eligible for density bonus incentives permitting a larger structure than would otherwise be allowed by zoning rules.

MVE + Partners is designing 920 La Brea, which is depicted in a rendering with an exterior of painted stucco.

The project would rise along a stretch which has recently seen the construction of similar-scaled infill developments, such as the pair of mixed-use buildings developed near the intersection of 8th Street and La Brea.
