Eight months after starting work in Venice, wood framing is taking shape for a new permanent supportive housing complex on a property previously occupied by the non-profit organization Safe Place for Youth.
The Journey apartments, which are being built by Venice Community Housing Corp. at 2467-2471 Lincoln Boulevard, will consists of a four-story building that will feature 90 studio apartments, as well as a 10-car garage and on-site supportive services at completion.
Studio One Eleven is designing the podium-type building, which will offer a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments. The contemporary mixed-use project will front Lincoln Boulevard with a new plaza, with private yards and an interior courtyard providing additional open space exclusive to residents.
At the time of its groundbreaking, The Journey had an estimated budget of $28.6 million. Funding for the project comes from multiple sources, including Measure HHH.
Venice Community Housing is behind a number of supportive housing developments in the neighborhood which bears its name, including a recently-built project on Rose Avenue and new apartment buildings slated for Santa Monica and a publicly-owned parking lot on the Venice Canals.
