New senior affordable housing is set for a busy intersection in Reseda, per a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The proposed project, which comes from an entity affiliated with Meta Housing Corp., would rise from a site owned by the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging at 19300 W. Sherman Way. Dubbed the Tampa Senior Apartments for its north-south cross-street, the project calls for razing existing parking and commercial buildings to clear the way for the construction of a new six-story building featuring 244 one- and two-bedroom apartments with parking for 125 vehicles.

According to project findings, the apartments would be reserved for low- and moderate-income renters. Those restrictions make the project eligible for the City of Los Angeles Affordable Housing Incentive Program, which permits larger structures than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.

Y&M Architects is designing the Tampa Apartments, which would be of a contemporary style and include amenities a community center, flex space, a rear yard, a side yard, and two courtyards.

The project site is located a short distance to the east on Sherman Way from a similar affordable housing complex built by Hollywood Community Housing Corp.
