At a ceremony held on August 14, developer Bridge Housing Corp. and local elected officials marked the completion of Heritage Square South, a new supportive housing complex for seniors in Pasadena.

Located at 710 N. Fair Oaks Avenue the project consists of 69 one- and two-bedroom dwellings above 2,200 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.

"It's not right that here in Pasadena, or anywhere, many of our neighbors struggle to put a roof over their head, have no local housing options within their budget, or are just one paycheck away from becoming unhoused,” said Congressmember Judy Chu, who represents the area.

Residents have access to supportive services from Union Station Homeless Services of Pasadena, including counseling, independent living support, and assistance with healthcare.

KTGY designed the apartment complex, which consists of a trio of three-story buildings arranged around a central courtyard and linked by pedestrian bridges on upper floors. Residents have access to a community room and other amenity spaces.

The name of the project is a reference to Heritage Square, another Bridge Housing development which opened on an adjacent site in 2016.

Funding for the project was provided by the City of Pasadena, Wells Fargo Bank,  JLL Real Estate Capital, FHLBank San Francisco, and the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee. R.D. Olson served as general contractor.

Other projects from Bridge include the Jordan Downs redevelopment in Watts and a recently-completed housing complex in Long Beach.
