A single-family home built nearly 110 years ago in Hollywood is up for redevelopment, per an application submitted recently to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The proposed project, slated for a single parcel located just north of the US-101 freeway at 1808 Canyon Drive, calls for the construction of a five-story building featuring nine two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments ranging from 879 to 1,329 square feet in size.

In exchange for Transit Oriented Communities incentives permitting increased density and floor area beyond zoning limits placed on the site, one of the new dwellings would be set aside as affordable housing.

Vanos Architects is designing the project, dubbed the 1808 Canyon Lofts, and would feature a facade of wood panels, CMB siding, and metal. Balconies are planned overlooking Canyon Drive to the east.

City records list the project applicant as 6756 West 86th Place Investors, LLC, and entity affiliated with Los Angeles-based real estate firm Escalon Drive Partners, LLC. The developer has included a tract map with the entitlement application, which could allow the new residences to be offered for sale as condominiums.

The project site is located just south of a new development of small lot homes designed by LOHA at 1826 Canyon Drive.
