A property on the border between the cities of Los Angeles and West Hollywood could yield new apartments, per an application scheduled for review by the West Hollywood Planning Commission.
The proposed project from Shahrokh Zarrin of Kiavand, LLC, slated for two parcels located at 1006-1010 N. Edinburgh Avenue, calls for razing a pair of single-family homes to make way for the construction of a new four-story building featuring 17 apartments above parking for 24 vehicles.
Requested approvals include density bonus incentives which would permit a larger development than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, three of the new apartments would be set aside for rent by moderate- and very low-income households.
Levin-Narino Architects is designing 1010 Edinburgh, which is depicted in plans as a contemporary low-rise structure featuring a common rooftop deck and front yard for residents.
A staff report recommends approval of the project.
Zarrin, the applicant, is also attached to a similar multifamily residential development proposed in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood.
